WINGS PROVIDES EMERGENCY AND TRANSITIONAL HOUSING IN CHICAGO

A graduate of the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, Judge Megan Goldish serves as a judge with the Domestic Violence Court of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Additionally, Judge Megan Goldish has served as a supervising attorney with the WINGS program, which provides emergency and transitional housing for victims of domestic violence. Through it two emergency shelters, WINGS can safely house up to 85 individuals each night. The shelters support victims who are fleeing violent situations with temporary shelter and safety planning, as well as food and clothing. Safe House staff can also assist residents in obtaining legal services such as orders of protection. After staying in emergency housing for up to 120 days, clients of WINGS can enter a transitional and permanent housing program that includes more than 50 apartments and houses throughout metropolitan Chicago. As part of the program, domestic violence survivors and their children can rebuild their lives while receiving counseling and employment assistance. Since opening its first shelter in 2016, WINGS has provided more than 900 individuals with more than 71,000 nights of shelter.
