The Circuit Court of Cook County Launches New Program for Youth

A recognized presence in the Chicago legal community, Judge Megan Goldish has 17 years of legal experience in Cook County. Judge Megan Goldish was elected to the bench of the Circuit Court of Cook County and serves as a judge in the Domestic Violence Court.

On April 17, the Circuit Court of Cook County launched a program that will help minors in detention. Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans announced that the new program, which benefits the residents of the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center, was based on the recommendations of the Circuit Court of Cook County Blue Ribbon Committee.

The program, which is led by psychologists, promotes the youth’s cognitive and emotional growth and gives the residents something concrete to do between dinner and bedtime. Under the program, the young men attend classes on emotional and social wellness rooted in cognitive behavioral techniques, in addition to yoga and capoeira (a martial art involving dance, music, and spirituality) sessions. The young women, on the other hand, take part in a program grounded in cognitive behavioral techniques, including physical fitness and emotional and social wellness sessions, as well as activities that help them build healthy relationships.
